I want to be.. Under the Sea

Back to the grind!! I forgot how much time pottery takes from your life.  I may have to limit myself to one blog a week.  There is simply not enough hours in a day to blog every day in regard to my lifestyle.

I am still making teapots! Teapots teapots teapots.  It is quite a wonderful project   I cannot complain.  I enjoy seeing my work getting better and better with each week.

I usually decorate my pots with skulls and flowers.. Lately I have been on a big Octopus & Owl kick!  I find it very exciting! I find Octopi and owls to be such wise creatures.  I really try to add meaning to my work.  Even if it is subtle.  And for now I am not investing as much time in the whole "Death & Rebirth" aspect and am moving forward to "Wisdom & Grace".

Here are a couple of pots I have been working on recently.  They have glaze on them and are in the kiln today!  So excited!

I couldn't help but hum the Beatles "Octopus's Garden" when decorating these pots.

Here is an owl creamer I made. I am doing tests with slips to see how they turn out with certain glazes.  There are no handles.. Just lovin!  I love holding them in my hands.

Until next time.  I am very excited to see how these and other pieces turn out.  I haven't opened a kiln in some time.. I hope to find some wonderful surprises!

Talent without discipline is like an octopus on roller skates. There's plenty of movement, but you never know if it's going to be forward, backwards, or sideways.
