Paint paint paint

I have been working on my final project for painting class for a couple weeks now. My ideas have evolved more then I can count on one hand. From wanting to paint images for a childrens book, to illustrations for children based on "I AM" and eventually I have settled into painting a body of work based on an idea for a teen journal with thoughts of "I AM" mixed with some crazy hoopla and mumble jumble.

I tried using some new acrylic paints I purchased at the dollar store...I have seen others do remarkable work with them but I found them too chalky and not as vibrant as I wanted. Very pastely and reminded me a lot of Easter.

Also I am used to mixing my own colours and it wasn't the same painting with premixed colours that left little wiggle room for mixing anything extraordinary.

Back to the drawing board it is! I am excited to work with the paints I know. I long for the shine and colour intensity!

The following are a couple "test" paintings (this is what I will call them as I am very unhappy with the way they turned out, but it was fun while it lasted.)

I also learned that my thinnest brushes aren't thin enough to do the lining I am looking for. I purchased a new one today and have my fingers crossed.

I also apologize for the blurriness of my photos. I have yet to find my card reader for my camera. I have been having to use my cell and it is not generous these days.

Now to paint the rest of the afternoon away. Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

The hidden harmony is better than the obvious.
